As you all know the Christmas season officially ended last week.
The Spanish and Latin American tradition is to celebrate on the 5th of January, and it is with great anticipation that people await the arrival of the three Kings or Wise Men, and the receiving of their presents on the 6th of January.
This day, also known as the Epiphany, finds its roots in the biblical story of Matthew.
The story goes that the Three Wise Men were making their way from the East all the way to Bethlehem to visit the newborn baby Jesus and gift him with gold, frankincense and myrrh.
This year this special occasion was reenacted in Abu Dhabi with the parade of the Kings arriving on their camels at the beach of the Fairmont BAB AL BAHR hotel http://www.fairmont.com/abu-dhabi/
It was a magical affair, filled with immense excitement! People big and small enjoyed their presence as the sun started to set behind the Grand Mosque “Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque” https://www.szgmc.gov.ae/en/Home
And even though the three Kings don’t carry the same presents with them anymore…just lots and lots of candy flying through the air being caught by little hands (and some big ones!)….it couldn’t feel more authentic!
There’s nothing more beautiful than witnessing the magic of the now 2018 year old story in everyone’s heart!
If you would like to read more about the people behind the magic, you can find an interview in the Spanish newspaper, El Correo, published in the UAE here:
