There are so many milestones in the life of a newborn, and they happen all so quickly it’s hard to keep up with! First smile, first time recognising it’s own NAME… But the 100 day milestone is certainly something very big in Chinese culture, as it is in some other Asian countries as well.
I have learned about it from a friend of mine who married a Korean lady and they also celebrated their baby’s 100 days.
It comes from a long tradition and marks the end of the most vulnerable period for new babies and mums.
I was mesmerised by 100 days old Adan, he is the gentlest of babies, holding eye contact for a very long time and spreading joy with his contagious smiles.
And if you think he couldn’t get any cuter you’re wrong!
To top it all he has the priceless ability to ooze calmness and confidence.
It was my absolute pleasure meeting Adan, his lovely parents and his charismatic and beautiful grandmother who didn’t speak English and me not speaking Cantonese nor Mandarin we still understood each other perfectly!
